The Benefits of Rooftop Solar Systems for SME’s in India

A new report released today by Deloitte focuses on the benefits of rooftop solar systems for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in India. It highlights key barriers to the adoption of solar energy and identifies possible solutions. The study surveyed 150 SMEs in six Indian industrial clusters to better understand how to reach these businesses and maximize their economic impact. It found that more than 90% of the SMEs are open to rooftop solar applications.

According to Orb, rooftop solar systems provide MSMEs with an average cost savings of 60%. This means that the average cost of electricity consumption for an SME goes from eleven dollars per kilowatt-hour to seven rupees per kilowatt-hour. In addition to this, solar energy can contribute to economic recovery in India and create jobs. As an added benefit, rooftop solar is more affordable and accessible than most forms of renewable energy.

Many SME’s in India pay high electricity fees. The benefits of rooftop solar for SME’s are numerous. These savings include reducing energy costs by more than half and opening up additional investment opportunities. This reduces electricity costs for the company and ultimately lowers overall operating costs. This results in a win-win situation for all parties. Not only does rooftop solar reduce the cost of energy, but it also improves air quality and reduces carbon emissions.

The Benefits of Rooftop Solar Systems for MSME’s in India will increase their profitability and sustainability, and it will create jobs. As a result, many SMEs will soon realize that the benefits of rooftop solar outweigh any investment in capital or equipment. With the help of the government, this opportunity has never been more affordable or accessible. For now, it is a smart move for SMEs.

By generating clean power, rooftop solar power for SMEs in India can help SMEs reduce their electricity bills by as much as 50 percent. This is an enormous savings for small businesses compared to other sources of renewable energy, which requires more expensive and complex infrastructure. In addition to cutting down on operational costs, rooftop solar provides a more sustainable way to produce electricity. So, it is not just a smart investment for SMEs.

Most MSMEs in India are unaware of rooftop solar and its benefits. This is because they have limited knowledge of rooftop solar financing and of the benefits of rooftop solar technology. Despite this, they will need assistance to get started. A multi-pronged approach is needed to ensure success of the project. The government needs to ensure the SMEs have access to financing to install solar energy on their rooftops.

The savings for SMEs from rooftop solar are huge. They can reduce their electricity bills by up to 60%, or create jobs. And they can save money on debt. In fact, Gadkari even suggested that cold-storage rooftop solar systems could be viable for SMEs in India. The savings are significant for small businesses and can unlock the doors to increased investment and job creation.

In addition to the financial benefits for the businesses, the government is also encouraging MSMEs to install rooftop solar systems. The government has committed $41 million for rooftop solar projects in India. It has already received over $360 million in loans, including a $20 million loan portfolio guarantee from USAID. The loan portfolio guarantees help the MSMEs reduce their monthly energy bills and access clean, reliable power.

The benefits of rooftop solar systems are numerous. SMEs spend more than half of their total energy bills and have become the largest beneficiaries of rooftop solar. These companies enjoy many other benefits, such as lower electricity bills and reduced operational costs. These companies are a vital part of the Indian economy and should not be ignored. These are good reasons to consider a rooftop solar system for your business.
